Excerpt:

Something tickled his ear, and teeth nipped the lobe. Oh, he liked it a bit rough.

“Oh yeah, baby. Bite me again. Harder.” Rex opened his eyes, finding himself on his side, face-to-face with the rabbit.

“Screw that!” He scrambled back, landing bare-assed on the floor.

Screw bunny?

His wolf’s puzzled response had him crab walking toward the door. How the hell had it gotten in bed with him? Hunter. That shithead.

Leaving the rabbit there, Rex shoved onto his feet and stormed upstairs to their room. He opened the door with so much force it slammed against the wall, causing Priss to bark at the end of the bed.
His righteous indignation diminished slightly with Hunter’s Glock trained on him. Maybe he needed to rethink how soft the former assassin had gotten. His friend lowered the gun and glared at him.

“What the hell, Hunter?” He planted his hands on his hips, more confident without a gun pointed at his face.

Casey sat up and rubbed his eyes, his reddish-blond hair standing on end. “What’s the naked, crazy man yelling about?”

Hunter covered the little wolf’s eyes. Shifters weren’t prudes, but he was one possessive dude now he had a mate. “What’s your damage? And go put some clothes on. Casey doesn’t need to see your man bits.”

“As if you didn’t know. I moved here, froze my balls off last winter, and how do you repay that friendship? By putting a rabbit on my bed. That wasn’t funny. I could have eaten him.” His stomach churned even though his wolf huffed in denial, insulted by the accusation.

No eat. Wolf like bunny.

Yeah, probably too much, you dumb wolf.

“Really? Well, what if I told you we were already in a scene and you’d already submitted?” She gave him a wink and leaned back in her chair.

Submission didn’t always exist in a neat little box or behind closed doors. How often did the committed couples she’d seen at The Playroom prove the same? Some people only liked to conduct their play in private, but she’d watched men and women let go completely, allowing every decision to be made by their Dominant, down to clothing and food selections.

He frowned but didn’t break visual contact. “I’ve been accommodating, as a gentleman should be. I’m not asking for a spanking or to be tied up.”

“That’s where we’ll disagree. The things you’ve been doing are commands, not questions paired with fluttering lashes or coy looks. As for the tying and spanking, if you’re interested in the act, you can let me know now.” And instinct told her pain wouldn’t work on this one. “But a lot of submissive work has nothing to do with sex or inflicting pain. It’s about letting me in here.” She leaned forward and put her index and middle finger flat against his forehead.

He inhaled sharply at the contact and let his fork hit the plate.

Laney knew this would be the moment of truth, and she needed to ask. Needed finality on whether this date had a longer shelf life than an hour in a restaurant. In truth, she should’ve been out at his initial resistance, but his use of “never” goaded her to push, to prod. Men in her dungeon stayed far away from such a word.

“Do you want me in here?” She poked him again.

He finally lifted his head, a determined, neutral expression on his face. “If you think you can handle it.”

“I said, what do you want?” Ven sounded furious as he took a step towards her and Caitlyn shrank back, dropping the cooler as she raised her hands as though trying to ward him off. The box tipped over, spilling its contents across the scruffy lot and the man swore again. He stepped around the mess of food and drinks, advancing rapidly and she caught his scent, amber and dark wood beneath a layer of fresh sweat. Her wolf, normally so quiet, surged forward and she realized in terror that she was practically toe-to-toe with her mate. And he was mean and angry.

Knowing what it was to suffer at the hands of a cruel man, she turned tail and ran as fast as she could. She plunged towards the relatively safety of the trees, kicking off her shoes and dragging her clothes free as she fled.

Her wolf was whining at her to stop, but she pushed on into the heavy brush. Pausing to shed her jeans, she crouched, letting the shift take her over but making sure she retained enough control to force the wolf to keep running. The wolf howled, desperate to turn back, to catch again the glorious scent of her mate and offer her throat in submission to his dominant presence.

A heavy crash behind had her doubling her efforts and her paws scrabbled over the soft ground, seeking purchase as she ran as though the hounds of hell were on her heels. She risked a glance over her shoulder and an involuntary yip of fright loosed from her throat. An enormous gray wolf was gaining on her with every stride, the snarl on his face more terrifying than the scowl he’d worn in his human form.

She put on another burst of speed, her wolf suddenly in accordance that escape rather than submission was the best idea. Dodging around a massive pine tree, trunk broader than her back, she pulled up short at the remains of another fallen trunk that suddenly blocked her path. A snarl set her in motion again and her claws scratched at the bark as she desperately tried to clamber over the downed tree. The wood was soft, rotten in places and her front legs slid from under her as a huge set of jaws clamped around the thick fur at the back of her neck.

Come and talk to me!

Author Spotlight with @Clare_Dargin #Shifter #Erotic #Romance #Giveaway

My #Werewolf's Character Was Inspired By An Angel by Clare Dargin #Shifter #Erotic #Romance

Before I sat down to write Wolf's Blade, I had only one thing in mind, I wanted to write a werewolf romance novel.  My first in fact.  But who the character was, the events that made up the main hero's and heroine's life or the story's main conflict I had yet to figure out.

So I did what I always do in these situations, I stressed myself by worrying.  Yes sometimes I can be very neurotic. After pacing a deep groove into my carpet from pacing, I came to the realization that worrying was getting me nowhere. So I reluctantly set the project aside and began working on other things.

Then one day while I was watching my favorite paranormal show, I saw him.  There he was in all of his six foot something glory, the inspiration for my werewolf shifter character- who I'd later name Callum Blake.

The show in question was Supernatural.  I've been a fan for years and love the exploits character who are brothers-- Sam and Dean Winchester.  This particular season, season nine had a new character that added a sweet pathos to the story line, which in my opinion, had never been on the show before.

The character, known as Gadreel, was an angel who was charged with guarding the Garden of Eden.  But for some reason, either through carelessness or falling for the devil's trickery, he allowed Lucifer to enter the Garden which caused the fall of creation.  As a result, he was placed in heaven's jail and was released when a fellow angel, Castiel released him because Castiel became an unwitting pawn of another angel named Metatron dubious plans.

Anyways, Gadreel's storyline though brief, was powerful.  Not only because of the writing (which is always good on the show in my opinion) but through the acting of Tahmoh Penikett.  I must admit, I had never seen him before – though later on I found out he was a major character on the revamped Battlestar Galactica among other shows- he made me cry as well as cheer for his tortured and damaged character.

But being the good romance writer that I am, I had to admire his incredible good looks.  Six-foot-four, with a lean muscular build, broad shoulders and a narrow waist line, Gadreel/Tahmoh was walking sex.  I mean the guy was hot!

That's when I knew I found Callum Blake or at least the placeholder/image I could use in my mind as I wrote the book.  When I write, I usually I like to have a person in mind when I create the character and the world he lives in because it inspires me when I'm trying to think of facial expressions or when I'm just to trying to find out what the man or woman is thinking.

Though Callum is a lot younger than Tahmoh the actor and much younger than Gadreel the angel, I made sure or at least try to make sure that Callum possessed the magnetic charm and sexy charisma that Tahmoh portrayed as Gadreel. I hope you enjoy reading Callum's story as much as I did writing it.

Now from my latest release Wolf's Blade-

Blurb:

Samantha Dixon rescues a wounded wolf shifter in the woods near her home … and unwittingly gets drawn into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a murderer. Callum Blake is on the trail of an evil man who would be king of all wolf kind, no matter the cost … it’s up to Callum to stop him. How can Callum fulfill his duty to protect his pack and save the woman who is destined to be his mate?

Excerpt

“Samantha Dixon. What’s yours?”
“Callum Blake.”
He concentrated on Samantha. He’d never seen a woman as gorgeous as she. Her howl stated she was in search of mate, but surely a woman as beautiful as she would have suitors falling over themselves to have her. No male wolf in his right mind would pass up someone like her.
“Have you been mated before?” he asked in a subtle attempt to find out about her past or present relationship. All he wanted to really know was if he had competition.
“I was but he died,” she said softly. “A casualty of the war between us and a neighboring pack.”
She bit her lip and wiped the corners of her eyes.
“I’m sorry for your loss.” His heart went out for her. Losing someone you love was rough and for it to be a mate made it even harder. Shifters when they mated were bound together by a special bond, and when it broke because of the other’s death it was like losing half of their soul. He never had that type of connection before, still, he could imagine the type of pain such a loss would inflict on the surviving mate.
She stood and began to straighten up the bed. “Not half as sorry as I am.”
“I don’t understand,” he said.
“If you don’t mind, I’d rather not talk about it.”
“Please forgive my intrusion. I’m just trying to express my gratitude.”
She smiled weakly. “I know. I’m sorry if I sounded snippy. It’s just that things have been rough lately and I’ve been stressed.” She waved her hand as she turned to leave. “That’s not important right now. You need to get well.”
“Please don’t go.” Just having her near soothed him. She was cute, feminine, and wore a timid expression that hinted at the suffering she had endured. Even though he had only known her for a short time, he already wanted to be her shield, protecting her from any harm that would come her way. He wanted to hold her in his arms and feel her body against his. Something in her challenged him to be more than just a warrior. Ever since her howl in the night, his soul had been on fire for her.

“Of all the people who could’ve been looking for me, it’s you.” His muscular frame settled into the chair next to the table where she’d been working. “If you’re thinking about killing me, it won’t happen, Gabby.”

Her heart lurched. Adrenaline kicked in along with her fight or flight instinct. The way he gazed at her like a predatory animal made a sliver of unease wiggle through her. “Well, at least we know where we stand, Kru,” she said, straightening her shoulders. “You must know the real reason I asked you here.”

“Explain it for me, beautiful? I’m having a hard time remembering,” he drawled, while giving her a smoldering look.

“You know damn well what I’m talking about,” she snarled, amazed at his relaxed posture. He eased the curtain open a little then glanced over at her, waiting for her to continue. “Do I have to spell it out?” Anger replaced her apprehension.

“No, but I’d like your assessment of what happened. I’m almost positive you were the one in Craven’s office. Tell me what you saw.” He folded his hands in his lap like he didn’t have a care in the world.

She curled her tongue against her cheek and nodded. “Okay, cabrón. We’ll play your game.” Gabby sat forward in her chair, her hands trembling with repressed anger. “I saw your ass storm into my brother’s office, gun drawn, like you were going to kill him. Which means only one or two thing—you were contracted or you had a beef with my brother.”

Broken Silence by Jennifer Kacey #NewRelease #BlackHillsWolves

I'm thrilled to be hosting Jennifer Kacey today to celebrate the highly anticipated next instalment in the Black Hills Wolves series - Broken Silence. If you are a fan of the series (like me!) then you will have a huge soft spot in your heart for Paul who is Jenn's hero. I'm so excited he gets a HEA, because no-one deserves it more than him.

Broken Silence will be out 2.26.16 from Decadent Publishing as #42 in the Black Hills Wolves series!! I was lucky enough to be able to write Paul's story, and anyone that reads #‎BHW‬ knows of his tragic past of being muted by his Alpha when he was twelve. I loved loved LOVED getting to be the one to tell his story and share how he found his place in the pack again with his rainbow-haired mate, PG!!! Isn't the cover dark and just like he's waiting for something?!? Siiigghhhh Fiona Jayde you rock some serious awesomesauce! And a huge thank you to Rebecca Royce for giving me the pretty face on this story and convincing me I really DID have time to write it!! MWAH!!

More than a decade before, when Paul was nothing but a child, fate dealt him a hand he couldn’t win. Silenced him forever for speaking out against the former Alpha, stole his destiny, and robbed him of his place in the pack.

Presley Ginger, a tiny human female, couldn’t have been further from what he expected to walk into the bar and alter his future. But he couldn’t tell her anything about his wolf or his shift. Nothing. Bound by a direct order from the enforcer to keep her in the dark, his need for her would never see the light of day. Then the moon rose above him in the presence of his mate and changed everything.

For years, in the background is where he stayed, unable to find his voice. Until his rainbow-haired mate showed up in the Black Hills—with the answer in her hands.

Excerpt

Paul woke screaming.
Well. His version of screaming. A bit different with no tongue. He tried to strangle the noise in his throat by clenching his teeth and it finally worked.
Breath rushed in and out of his lungs and he wiped at his face.
Wet.
Wet with blood.
Panic gripped him as he fumbled for the light on his nightstand.
Several things hit the floor before he found the switch.
Wiping his face again, his heart stopped as he looked at his hand.
Sweat.
His head hit the headboard as he relaxed.
It was only sweat. Thank God.
He counted to a hundred to try to calm his erratic pulse. And then did it again until he could breathe normally.
His future was Hail Mary’d that day. His life was thrown as hard as possible into the wind with who knew what on the other end.
He could have died. If he were human, he probably would have.
Yet—he’d lived.
Some days he wondered if surviving was a good thing or a bad thing.
Things were better with Drew, the new Alpha—an immeasurable amount better. More than a decade after he was ostracized from the pack, Drew returned to take his rightful place at the head of it. Challenging his father, Drew killed Magnum in an alpha challenge.
It was quick. Decisive.
The fact someone had been poisoning Magnum for some time played little into the outcome of the fight. Paul had his suspicions, but he said nothing—warned no one. Magnum’s death proved far quicker than Paul had wanted.
The man who mutilated him should have suffered. He didn’t like having those feelings but they were there. They were there for Magnum and for the five wolves who’d stolen his future.
They were all dead—every one of them. Taken out because they couldn’t be trusted. Killed because they’d decided their hate was worth fighting for.
They’d been wrong.
Sometimes….
Sometimes Paul wouldn’t remember they were dead. Sometimes getting stuck in the past was as simple as slipping on an old coat full of holes. The illusion of warmth clung to his foggy brain but he was so cold. His faith in others? Fleeting, so he had a hard time putting his trust in anyone.
Or friendship.
Or love.
He shook his head and ran his fingers over his short blond hair, making sure it was still cropped close to his skull.
Short. He always kept his hair short now.
Short enough no one could grab it.
Never again would it be used against him.
Staring at his hands in front of him, he measured their width. Their size was the same as the other wolves in the pack, but his hands didn’t pull the same weight. He was damaged goods. Unable to speak to anyone, he looked at the nightstand to find his only method of communicating. Two things which hadn’t fallen were his notepad and pen he kept with him all the time. So he could write clipped messages to people when he had to communicate.
It got the job done, but the necessity left him even more disconnected. Relaxing his biceps, he let his hands fall to his lap then closed his eyes, as he tried to focus past the nightmare.
The pack had hope again—stronger than ever thanks to the deaths. They’d found unity and faith in their Alpha. Hell, they even found faith in each other, in their pack, first decimated by a madman then wounded by another.
The members of the Black Hills Wolves were coming home. He was happy to be a part of the growth. Happy to help welcome them back. He’d stayed for so many years with the hope of witnessing the resurrection of their pack.
Theirs.
Not his.
Never his, because he was separate from them. Lesser. He’d never be Alpha. Sure as hell wasn’t a dominant wolf by any stretch of the word. Barely even a beta with the females of the pack. He was relegated to being an omega. A weakling. Yes they all told him he was needed. Wanted even. They told him omegas made the pack stronger, they helped—but how? No, he didn’t see it.
He shook his head and rubbed it one more time.
The night was so silent all around him.
Where he always stayed. In the silence.
Most days it still felt as if he were free falling toward a black future with nothing to hold onto. Where he’d land, he didn’t know.
All he prayed for each night and every morning? To find when he landed—he wouldn’t be alone.

Hope everyone loves Paul as much as I do!!

Decadently Yours,
Jennifer Kacey

#NewRelease Interlocking Hearts - (The DMA Files Book 2) by Roxy Mews

On my blog today, I am delighted to host a great friend of mine, Roxy Mews. She's the ass-kicker in chief, hugely inspirational and (although she'll deny it) one of the reasons I am a published author today. One of my favourite series of hers is The DMA Files. The first book in the series Coral-600 will shortly be joined by volume two - Interlocking Hearts. Today Roxy talks to us about how hard research can be:-

As erotic romance writers we get a lot of opportunity to look up, buy, and test out items in the name of “Research”. This is what we call…job perks.

When I first decided to write a story about Paisley from Coral-600, I knew she would need a lot of man to keep her happy. I had briefly mentioned the idea of robots created for sexual purposes in Coral’s book, and thought it would be a great opportunity to come up with something that would keep Paisley more than satisfied.

Jon is my former pleasure bot, turned spy, who has all the upgrades. When I was figuring out what the sex toy creators would use to make him undeniably the hottest man who wasn’t, I’m not going to lie…I did lots of searches for sex toys on the internet. Again…this is one of the reasons I love this job.

So of course his penis vibrates. Because that one was obvious. But he also has rotating beads in the head like a rabbit toy does. He’s well trained in the female anatomy, and he has a little electricity between his fingers to really wake up the skin. An ultra violet wand anyone?

While all of that research was fun (and potentially expensive) it’s not all there is to this character. He has programming that prevents him from giving pleasure when he becomes emotionally attached to his partner. This is where Ben comes in. Ben worked alongside Jon through his time in the military, and has figured out the right buttons to push to allow Jon the emotional connections he so greatly desires.

It’s a lot to ask of Paisley to take both of these men on, but trust me. She’s up for the challenge.

If you could give your partner an upgrade based on your favorite pleasure aide, what would you choose? Who knows. Your suggestion might just make an appearance in the next DMA Files book. ;)

Like what you hear? Me too! Here's all the information you need about Roxy's forthcoming release

Interlocking Hearts Blurb

A human, an almost-human, and a more-than-human walk into a palace…

The DMA Files, Book 2
After her husband threw her out, Paisley Compton drew her sexuality around her like a shield. She finds solid ground as a palace maid until, during a formal dinner service, she trips onto the lap of a man who takes her breath away.
Ben has always known Jon is far more than property, and he jumps at the chance to get the android his certificate of humanity. Paisley—whose abilities far exceed her job title—is a welcome distraction from the bureaucracy.
Used and abused by his former owners, Jon trusts no one—particularly the smartass woman who’s caught Ben’s eye. He might not be certified human yet, but he has all the right parts to get to the bottom of this sexy mystery wrapped in a maid’s uniform.
Their attraction sparks unexpected new conduits among them, but when they realize Jon’s certificate comes with a terrible price, they must risk everything to foil an Anti-Mech plot—and hope they survive to lose themselves in each other’s arms.
